LS24 / St Malo to Cherbourg Day 2

122km Genets to Barneville Carteret

Day 2 is a slightly longer stretch than day 1 and the terrain changes as well.

The coast road heads due north out of the village and rolls over some small hills to Granville, a good coffee stop.

From the port of Granville the route drops back down to the coast, although you don't have to follow the Garmin route to the airfield.

Coming out of the quiet lanes and joining the D650 is a bit of a surprise, as it is the main road up the coast, and can be quite busy (although less over lunchtime). Diverting onto the back roads away from the coast may lose the sea view, but will make for quieter riding.

St.Germain sur Ay leads to the beach and a choice of typical sea front cafes!

The last run up to the overnight stop at Barneville can be made through the lanes. The village of Portbail is at the end of the causeway that leads the route to the quiet lanes by the coast.

Carteret, just outside Barneville is a good dinner destination, provided the tide is in.
