Dave Rayner Fund & some wet training miles!
Training is coming along nicely at the moment. Currently I am just building up the length of my rides and keeping the pace steady. It has been a bit of a shock to the system I’m not going to lie with 4 rides in a row done in the pouring rain. Plus the extra kilos were definitely felt on the climbs! It has been good to get back into things nonetheless.
Last weekend I made the trek up north to Bradford for the annual Dave Rayner Fund dinner. The Dave Rayner Fund is an awesome organisation that supports lots of young riders looking to make their mark abroad. In the past they have supported a lot of Pros when they first moved abroad including Wiggins, Millar and Stannard. They have supported me over the last 3 seasons in Belgium, something I am very grateful for. Hopefully one day I will be in a position to pay them all back! It was great to see a lot of old friends again and have a good catch up over a beer. The drive back down to London in the morning wasn’t as great though as I was feeling a little bit worse for wear.
So now as December approaches the training is stepping up a notch and things are getting a bit more serious. At the end of November I’m lucky enough to be moving out to Mallorca for 4 weeks, with my An Post Chainreaction team training camp in Calpe slapped in the middle. So thankfully I will be escaping the cold and getting some quality miles down in the sun… that’s the plan anyway!
I’ll let you know how things are going out there and try not to come across too smug!
