LS41 / 2014 Tour de France Stage 1
175km Harrogate loop

2932 metres of climbing in 175km around the Yorkshire Dales it's a tough ride.
The first climb out of Buckden hugs the side of the valley at 6 -8% then rears up over the top at 12 - 15 %. Fortunately this is followed by an amazing winding descent into a lovely Dale.
Hawes is where Buttertubs kicks off. A series of false summits reach the top of the Swaledale Valley, where a fast twisty descent returns to river level.
The stunning road along the river twists & turns, eventually reaching the last hill which pulls up steeply to a moorland plateau.
On the top of the moor the road is winding and spectacular.
A series of small but steep climbs & descents deliver you to the final long slow climb back into Harrogate.
