La Truite Doree (The Golden Trout) is the starting and finishing point of the route, a great place to stay and, more importantly, a gastronomic delight.

Leave the Trout and turn right at the roundabout, through the village towards Saint Cirq Lapopie. Follow the road and cross the first bridge over the river to take the back road climb to overlook the village.

Steady down into the village, especially in season! Plenty of choice for coffee.

At the bottom of the hill turn right before the bridge. Cross the river at Conevieres.

The route through the villages follows gorges and climbs over the tops - this section of the route is well signposted (not typical of the Gallic road network). Quiet roads, spectacular views, yet more phenomenal French riding.

The final run down the main road back into Vers is quiet.

(If you fancy a simple route extension turn right to Cours, up the hill, and left to the village, follow the road all the way back down to Vers.)
